Aubrey Miles
Museum Experience
I am currently working at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis as a Gallery Interpreter conducting programs in four separate galleries. I am passionate about creating visitor experiences that can be both fun and informative, even during serious programs.
I have gained collections experience through internships at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum and Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site, as well as through volunteer work with the FBI Art Crime team and the Ziibiwing Center. Many of my courses, especially Collections Care and Management, Community Collaboration, and Preventive Conservation, have helped deepen my understanding of why we collect, and how to care for those collections.
Relevant Experience
August 2023 - April 2024
Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site
During the fall of 2023 I created an exhibit based on the life of Benjamin Harrison and his family while they were living in the White House.
In the time after the exhibit opening I assisted in a yearly house inventory, a photography project for DK History books, and participated in several committee meetings.
April 2023
Ziibiwing
While at Ziibiwing Center I helped deinstall an exhibit of blankets on loan from the University of Michigan, performed condition reports on approximately 80 hand oven baskets, created archival boxes out of chloroplast and cotton twill to store art, and assisted in exhibit cleaning.
October 2022
FBI Art Crimes
During this experience I helped prepare and rehouse ancestors, funerary and sacred objects for repatriation to be returned to descendant communities.
October 2021 - May 2022
Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum
During this internship experience I catalogued 100+ programs from various automobile races held around the world, assisted in multiple exhibit deinstallation an installations, and made boxes out of blue board to house racing helmets in addition to assisting during events.
